Spot clean, Professional dry cleaning
Lanolin is the natural fat that you find in wool.
The basic idea is to take care of your sheepskin in a way that doesn’t require you to wash it. You do not want to use cleaning chemicals that eliminate the natural lanolin that keeps it clean.
Since lanolin repels dirt naturally, you will notice that it’s quite simple to remove it by shaking the sheepskin. This helps the dirty particles that are loosely attached, basically fall off.
Small stains and minor soiling could be sponged off with a damp cloth. You can use special liquid wool cleaner. We recommend Eucalan Wool Wash for cleaning spots on your sheepskin. Mix it with room temp water and use froth only to clean stains (do not use much water). Take care not to use too much water, you don't want to get the skin too wet.
You can gently stretch the sheepskin to shape it after cleaning. You would only need to do this if you got the skin really wet. Leave the skin to dry AWAY from direct sunlight and heat.
If you sit on your pelt all the time, it will start to flatten eventually. You need to brush the wool with a wide tooth hair comb and shake the sheepskin regularly to avoid this from happening.
You can occasionally air your skin outside, just remember to avoid direct sunlight and moisture.
